Shopify merchants searching for “order edit” apps will find a crowded App Store category: self-serve address changes, cancels, line-item edits, upsells, and add-ons inside larger tracking or returns suites. This guide is a neutral map of that landscape and a clear statement of where BeforeShip fits — without review-score theater or insults.

What problem are you buying?

Start with the job:

• Wrong address / phone before ship — high frequency, high reship cost.
• Cancel before pack — cheaper than a return when the shopper decides early.
• Line changes — qty, add/remove, variant swap, shipping method, discounts.
• Post-purchase upsell — AOV after checkout.

Choosing without regret

1. List the top three ticket types you want to deflect (address, cancel, size swap, upsell…).
2. Ask whether your warehouse needs a true hold or only a short delay.
3. Confirm document needs: shopper invoice, warehouse slip, or both after edits.
4. Model cost at your real monthly paid online order volume — including overages and upsell fees if any.
5. Pilot on a plan you can leave; keep packing SOPs written down before you widen the window.
